Subject and Association DescriptionWilliam Samuel Garrad (1844-1927) was a wealthy farmer at ‘Wickham Hill’ estate, Milton, owning nearly 1000 acres in 1885. The farm at Wickham Hill is still owned by one of his descendants. Garrad and his wife Jane (née Simmons) were ardent supporters of the Salvation Army and funded the land purchase and build of the Salvation Army Hall in Milton (now part of South Coast Skin Cancer Clinic).
Garrad Lane, Milton is named for WS Garrad.
